Happy Thanksgiving
We have so much to be thankful for in good times and the bad, but it's good to have a day when we can really think about how much we have here as compared to other countries, especially things like the freedoms we have, health care, quality of life and so many other blessings. Happy Thanksgiving!

Anniversary Gift
We decided that with moving we did not have the time or energy to plan a trip or have a big party to celebrate our 50th anniversary, so instead we decided to have the kids in for dinner and we would buy a big TV for downstairs. We had put the little TV there when we moved in, simply because that was the safest place to put it. The pictures I took makes it look like the little TV went on steroids.

Anniversary
It was 50 years ago today that I married the man of my dreams. Sure there's been a few nightmares along the way, but basically it was the best decision I've ever made! This morning #2 daughter phoned to wish us a Happy Anniversary and she mentioned that I hadn't killed him yet...I told her there were a couple of questionable times during this moving bit, that came pretty close!!!! lol
We've had a wonderful day and had lots of greeting and well wishes from some dear friends...we are so very blessed!!

Good Friends
We've been in a quandary as to which church we want to attend out here. They each have pros and cons. Today we attended church where our former pastor is lead pastor. We went there a couple weeks ago but he was on holidays so the associate pastor preached...he was very good, but we were looking forward to hearing Tim today, he didn't disappoint us! His sermon was on "Wives & Husbands" Ephesians 5:21-33, which was ironic because this week we'll be celebrating our 50th anniversary. There was one couple in the congregation that had just celebrated their 63rd and today it was the 23rd anniversary of the associate pastor and his wife!
After the service we were invited for lunch at the home of a lady we know from our old church. There were two other couples there from the church and it was not only a delicious lunch but we got to visit with and catch up. After lunch one of the ladies presented us with a perpetual calendar with bible verses on every day, and an anniversary card. She remembered our anniversary, which was really touching!

Good Bye Robin
Yesterday Robin Williams died...can't believe he's gone...he was always so funny and made me laugh....going to miss him.
Today I heard Lauren Bacall has also left us.
Today is the second anniversary of the passing of my Mother.
We were at a funeral last week for the mother of a friend of ours. He is a palliative care doctor and sees death on an almost daily basis, but said it is really different being on the other side of the coin, so to speak!
On the weekend we'll be going to another funeral...this time for the father of a friend we met through our camping membership.
Too many deaths, but at the same time we can be thankful for the wonderful lives they led and we can also be truly thankful that we live in a part of the world where our lives aren't being torn apart with bombs and wars!!!
Just goes to show that we have to live each day we've been given to the max. Love Laugh and Enjoy this precious thing called LIFE!!!!!

update
weird things have been happening in blog land lately, and it wouldn't let me in!
Sunday we went to church then had 8 people from our former church come in for a "planned potluck dinner". Had a delightful time and it was good to see friends!!!
Today we had a couple in for lunch. I made banana/apricot "yonanas" for dessert. I first had this at my daughter's and ended up buying the machine when grandson W told me it was on sale at Wal-Mart. You take frozen bananas and other fruit, put it through the machine, and it comes out somewhat like soft ice cream!!!! Of course today the guys wanted "real" ice cream served with it!!!....just goes to prove women are more interested in "healthy food" than men are!!!!
Tonight I did my first batch of canning in our new house...success...they all sealed!!!...tomorrow I can use the elevator to take them down to the canning room!

We are quite delighted that the house is so cool during the day and in the evening it cools off really nicely. I LOVE my new house, even if I miss the old one!!!

More R and R
The last time we were away was good but not long enough to rejuvenate us as much as we needed so we took off again for the long weekend. Went to La Conner and met up with #2 daughter and her family. Had a great time soaking in the hot tub, doing puzzles, reading books and more sleeping...even combined suppers one night and fried up a bunch of fresh oysters and bar-b-qued chicken for those who don't like oysters.
After the weekend when they left we went to another one of our parks and checked in for a week. There were specials on at the local casinos so we went out for dinner a couple of times and even managed to win some small jackpots in the casinos.
Some friends we'd met through camping were also in the park so we spent time with them. She said I was looking a lot more rested now than when she last saw me!!! Guess all the sleeping and relaxing has done me some good!!
They were slated to close the road that we wanted to take home on Tuesday so we left the park late Monday evening and went to the casino that was closer to our home and camped there for the night. There were several rigs in the camp area, so we weren't the only ones. This morning we went in and got our $15 for $10 coupon and the $3 off food coupon so went and had a fantastic breakfast!! It was so yummy but too much to eat so got a box....aka doggie bag...put it in the fridge...now we have breaky for tomorrow!

Our New Home
After we got word that the old house had transferred, we handed over the keys to our realtor and we left the driveway with our travel trailer in tow and headed down to Birch Bay to stay for a week and rest...we are so physically and emotionally drained, I think we'll do nothing but sleep for a week!!!
We went and had a delightful lunch and visit with my sister, who had just moved to a condo in Bellingham, did some shopping, worked on puzzles and soaked in the hot tub, visited with 2 couples who were parked close to us. We've known them for several years but hadn't been in the park at the same time as them for ages, so it was nice to catch up! Went to the church we usually go to when we're in the area and also had lunch with one of my cousins, her husband and their dog. Sure didn't feel like going home, (home being the new house) but we had to because they were coming to hook up the phone, TV and internet the next day.
The new house is slowing starting to feel like "home", but still feels weird not going back to the old house! Been busy unpacking....how many boxes are left to unpack....feels like thousands....there's still lots of them. I've come to the conclusion that I've moved once in the last 50 years and with any luck at all I'll NOT MOVE AGAIN!!!!!...at least not in the foreseeable future!

Good bye To an Era
Last year, to settle Mom's estate, my sister and I sold my her house, which was 2 blocks from the house my husband and I built when we got married. We've lived in this house for over 49 years, raised 3 wonderful children, who got married and gave us 6 grandkids. Sure there were ups and downs but this was HOME!!!! and we knew every brick, board, nail and screw that went into it. My husband and I have both lived in this area since we were born. Tomorrow we hand the keys over to new owners, thankfully they are a young family who have one little boy and want more children and a dog.
We've had our new house since the beginning of February so we've been moving stuff out there and staying overnight there many times. The movers were here last week and took all the furniture out so we put our travel trailer in the front driveway and stayed in it while we cleaned the last bit of stuff out of the house and garage.
This is the end of one era and it is sad but in another way we're looking forward to the new adventures and friendships we'll make in the new home.

Home #3???
We've packed up so much of the stuff in our house that I not only have no pots or pans to cook in but nothing to eat it with either!! We took our travel trailer out of the garage and parked it in the front driveway. Two nights ago we slept in our old house, next night we slept in our new house and last we slept in the trailer....I'm getting to the point that I never know where I am when I wake up during the night!!!
With all that's going on, my brain is totally fried!!! Yesterday I wanted to stock the trailer fridge so that we can "live" in it while finishing packing up the old house. There was a 2 dozen egg carton in the house fridge. It was too big to put in the trailer fridge so I took the egg out but....now I can't find it!!! Who knows where it might be????
Hubby was cleaning out one of his drawers and he found $20, then he found some more money...that was good! He gave me some papers to shred. One envelope was too big to fit in the shredder so I ripped it in half....what's that????...looks like money...sure enough it was a 20 and two 5's. Guess I'll have to tape them back together and take them to the bank....good job I didn't shred them...would have been a much harder job to tape them back together!!!

I've Been Locked Out
For some time now I haven't been able to post. Today our Daughter, Son-in-law and grandkids were down as well as our son. They were helping up pack and hauling some stuff out to the new house. Granddaughter did some homework on my computer then managed to get my blog to unlock for me.
We took possession of our new house on Feb 1 and have been going back and forth. It's been great moving stuff out there slowly because I've had time to organize things and make some adjustments. Selling our old house was a real on-again, off-again affair...Well on April 1...April Fool's Day they finally removed the subjects and want possession and closing date on April 28...Yikes just 4 weeks to get everything cleaned out of here!!!! Needless to say, we've been busy!!!
